NATIONAL SOLEMN ASSEMBLY UPDATE 4

40 DAYS OF PREPARATION LAUNCHED AT LARGE MELBOURNE PRAYER RALLY

The 40 days of preparation leading to the National Solemn Assembly was launched at the United Prayer Rally held in Melbourne last Friday. Attended by more than 4000 people the Rally was organised by Catch the Fire Ministries to pray for our nation on Australia Day.

During the 40 days people are invited to read the scriptures which have been put out by the Australian Prayer Network and engage in some form of fasting as a means of connecting with the heart of God and what we believe He is saying to us as His people in our nation which is facing many crises both natural and spiritual.

MELBOURNE LAYS DOWN ITS PLANS FOR THE SAKE OF THE NATION

In a wonderfully generous gesture and an act of true spiritual unity, organisers of the annual Transforming Melbourne 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting, which each year leads into the cities Easter Celebrations, have laid down their plans this year to join with the rest of the Nation in preparing for, and joining in, the National Solemn Assembly.

Transforming Melbourne spokesman Rev Rob Isaachsen said "We believe Unity, Servanthood and Prayer are essential to enable God to move. So in humility and grace we lay down our preparation for the scheduled Transforming Melbourne 40 days of Prayer and Fasting and unite instead with the schedule and focus of the national 40 days of prayer recently initiated by The Prayer Movement in Australia. We do this so we can stand as one across Australia before our God in repentance and preparation for God’s transformation of our nation.

HOW MUCH WILL YOU SACRIFICE TO SEE BREAKTHROUGH IN THE SPIRITUAL AND NATURAL REALMS IN OUR NATION

Many folk are in the valley of decision as to whether they should travel to Canberra to attend the National Solemn Assembly or simply join in "in spirit" from home.

The answer they give to the question "how much are you personally prepared to sacrifice for the sake of our nation" will determine the decision they make. Whilst understanding that for some, personal, family, or work commitments may preclude them from attending, others have the opportunity to make a conscious decision to overcome the barriers that everyday live places in our way of fulfilling God's call on our lives to be there.

It is this kind of sacrifice that all who attend will need to make of their time, their finances and the overcoming of the inconvenience to lifes routines that demonstrates our desperation or otherwise for what we are asking God to do in our nation. An act of radical obedience on the part of a significant number of people will go far in the pulling down of strongholds of apathy and indifference so prevelant in modern society. Can we encourage you to be a "History Maker" by attending in person what some are saying could be the most important prayer gathering ever held in Australia.

May the Lord richly bless you in whatever decision you finally make.
